Baked Custard



This creamy dessert has just the right texture and consistency for a tasty pudding dessert.

Ingredients

5
eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
4 cups milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat together eggs, sugar and salt.

Scald milk. (a crinkly film will form on top of the milk).

Stir the scalded milk into the egg mixture.

Add vanilla.

Pour into a 3 quart baking dish.

Set the baking dish in a pan of 1" deep hot water.

Sprinkle a little nutmeg over the top.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until knife inserted just off center comes out clean.

Remove from heat and serve cool or chilled.

Serves about 10.
