Dessert Bars



Just as there are Juice Bars, Cigar Bars and Alcohol Bars, I've decided there should be Dessert Bars. What do you think? Are you with me on this?

Ingredients

Dough:  
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup oil
1 cup water
5 Tbsp cocoa
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
   
Frosting:  
1/2 cup butter
5 Tbsp cocoa
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 lb confectioners' sugar
2 tsp vanilla
nuts optional

Custom Search

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Grease 9"x13" baking pan.

 

Cookies:

Mix together sugar and flour in mixing bowl.

Bring butter, oil, water and cocoa to a boil.

Pour butter mixture over flour and sugar.

Beat until well blended.

Combine eggs, buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla.

Add egg mixture to other ingredients.

Beat until mixed.

Pour into 9"x13" pan.

Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes.

 

Frosting:

Bring butter, cocoa and buttermilk to a boil.

Add sugar, vanilla and nuts.

Mix well.

Frost cookies while they're still hot.

Cut into 3"x1" bars.

Makes about 40 bars.
