Vanilla Caramels



Sweetness personified.

As with many of our other candy recipes, the only complication comes in cooking the ingredients to a certain temperature. If you want to do more candy making, you may want to invest in a candy thermometer

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
2 Tbsp butter
1 cup evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts

Custom Search

Boil sugar, butter and milk to firm-ball stage, 245 degrees F.
Do not stir after sugar is dissolved.
Pour on buttered platter, cool, beat until creamy.
Add vanilla extract and chopped nuts.

Press into buttered pans.

When firm, cut into squares. Wrap in wax paper.
