Classic Fudge
This is a very easy recipe. It takes a bit of time to let the mixture come to a boil. But, it is definitely worth the wait. I've doubled or even tripled this recipe in a large pot to make lots of fudge. You can even freeze it for a while. I wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in a freezer bag. It even tastes great frozen.
You can vary the flavor by using milk chocolate or even dark chocolate instead of the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Again, don't be afraid to experiment to get just the right flavor.
Ingredients
| 2 cups | sugar |
| 2/3 cup | evaporated milk |
| 15 | regular marshmallows |
| 1/2 cup | butter |
| 1/8 tsp | salt |
| 1 1/4 cups | semi-sweet chocolate chips |
| 1 1/2 cups | chopped walnuts |
| 1 tsp | vanilla extract |
In a 2-quart saucepan combine the sugar, evaporated milk, marshmallows,
butter, and salt.
Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until the mixture comes
to a boil and is bubbling.
Boil and stir for 5 minutes; remove from the heat.
Stir in the chocolate chips until completely melted;
Stir in the walnuts and vanilla.
Spread into a buttered 8-inch-square pan and cool approx. 2 hours before
cutting.
