Kentucky Butter Cake
This is a very simple recipe for a tasty Kentucky Butter Cake. This is a little more complicated than some of our other recipes. But, once again, just follow the directions and you'll be fine.
Ingredients
| 3 cups | flour |
| 1/4 tsp | baking soda |
| 1 tsp | baking powder |
| 1 tsp | salt |
| 1 cup | butter |
| 2 cups | sugar |
| 4 | eggs |
| 1 cup | buttermilk or sour milk |
| 2 tsp | vanilla extract |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 1/2 cup | butter |
| 1/4 cup | water |
| 1 tsp | vanilla extract |
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Grease bottom of 10-inch tube pan.
Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Cream butter, gradually adding sugar.
Mix well.
Add eggs, one at a time, to butter mixture.
Mix well.
Combine milk and vanilla.
Add milk mixture alternately with dry ingredients to the butter mixture.
Sauce:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
Combine these 4 ingredients.
Heat until butter is melted; Do Not Boil.
Remove from heat. Pour over cake.
