Gingerbread



This is a rich, moist gingerbread that is one of the more traditional gingerbread recipes.

You can serve it warm with a little whipped cream. Yum!

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened
5 Tbsp sugar
2 eggs
2 cups dark Grandma's Molasses
2 cups boiling water
4 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 Tbsp ginger
2 Tbsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Grease and flour 9"x13" pan.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar and eggs.

Add molasses and boiling water.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon.

Add dry mixture to butter mixture.

Pour batter into baking pan.

Bake at 325 for 45-50 minutes.

Makes about 16 servings.
