Buttery Rolls

If you want to try this recipe, you'll have to give time for the rolls to do their rising bit. But, if you have the time to plan for that, you'll be duly rewarded with great dinner rolls.

Ingredients

1 pkg yeast
2 Tbsp warm water
1/4 cup warm milk
3 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs, eaten
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 1/4 cups flour
1 egg, beaten & 1 tsp water - hold in reserve

1 large egg beaten with 1 tsp water - HOLD IN RESERVE to brush dough before baking.

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
Grease cookie sheet.

Combine yeast, warm water, warm milk, sugar and salt.
Let stand until bubbly.
Blend in 2 beaten eggs; then add the butter.
Add flour and beat vigorously until dough leaves side of bowl.

The dough will be sticky.
Scrape the dough into a buttered bowl. Turn the ball of dough to coat it in butter and cover tightly.

Let double. Punch down and shape into 18 small balls.

Place the balls well apart on a greased baking sheet.
Let rise.

Brush the dough with the egg and water mixture you'd held in reserve, and bake until browned.

Bake 275 about 10 minutes.

Makes 18 rolls.
