Essential Bakeware
Ok. Ready? Here's your big chance. If you really want to get serious about baking, you can do some shopping without feeling guilty. There are a few things that you'll want to have to get your baking essentials up to date.
If you want to shop online, Cooking.com, KitchenEtc.com, KitchenCollection.com and The Baker's Catalogue have a great variety of cookware and bakeware that will get you started on building your arsenal of essentials for baking desserts.
Once again, here's a list of items you'll want to have to get started your baking adventure. We'll start with the small items and end with the big stuff. Remember these are just my suggestions for the basics. Some of these you can find in baking sets that will save you some money. Your needs may vary:
2 non-stick cookie sheets - (I have 5 of them, in various sizes. But, 2 will get you started.)
2 9" round cake pans - If you think you'll just be making sheet cakes, you can get away with using a rectangular pan to make your cakes. But, if you want to make some layer cakes, invest in 2 round cake pans to begin with.)
1 9"x13" rectangular cake pan (with cover, if possible)
2 8"x8" square cake pans
2 9"x5" loaf pans
1 tube or angel food cake pan
1 regulation size muffin pan
1 mini-muffin pan
2 wooden spoons
Rubber spatulas (large and small) I have also seen a "French spatula" that is like a scraper that really gets everything out of the bowl really well.
1 set of Christmas cookie cutters
1 set of non-holiday cookie cutters (like alphabet cutters or wild animals)
2 rolls of parchment paper
1 Food processor (the smaller models work well if you're willing to take a little more time and process smaller batches.)
